Two seasons are clearly distinguishable throughout the year. The period from December to March is considered the wet season: during this time, the number of rainy days increases significantly, peaking in January. The dry season arrives from May to August, when rainfall is virtually absent and the sky remains clear. However, tourists should bear in mind the daily temperature fluctuations: whilst days in the dry season are sunny and pleasant, nights can be quite cold, with temperatures dropping to 3–4°C.

The climate in Tarija is characterised by its mildness and comfort, making this Bolivian region attractive to visit practically all year round. The warmest period coincides with the rainy season and the Southern Hemisphere summer — from October to March.
