At this time, especially in August and September, the highest temperatures are established, ideally suited for a beach holiday. The weather is sunny but without stifling heat, as the ocean breeze softens the sun's impact. Even on the hottest days, the temperature rarely exceeds 26°C, remaining within comfortable limits.

Winter months in Mindelo can be described as very mild, resembling a good spring or a not-too-hot summer. A characteristic feature of the local temperature pattern is the minimal temperature fluctuation throughout the day. The difference between day and night figures is only 1–2 degrees. This means that even after sunset, the air remains almost as warm as during the day, sparing you the need to carry warm clothes with you in the evenings.

The climate in Mindelo pleases with stable warmth all year round, so the basis of your luggage should be light summer clothes. T-shirts, shorts, linen trousers, and dresses made of natural breathable fabrics will be the ideal choice for daytime walks. Since rain here is a great rarity (even in the nominally "wet" season in August and September, precipitation is minimal), you will hardly need an umbrella. It is much more important to take care of reliable sun protection: be sure to take a hat, quality sunglasses, and cream with high SPF, as the tropical sun is active even with variable cloudiness.

In the evenings, as well as in the winter and spring months (from January to May), when the average temperature hovers around +20…+22°C, it can be cool due to the breeze. We recommend packing a windbreaker, jumper, or light hoodie in your suitcase. The principle of layering works excellently here: during the day you enjoy the warmth in light clothing, and after sunset, you throw on something warmer for a comfortable dinner on the waterfront.

To explore the colourful cobbled streets of Mindelo, you will need comfortable flat-soled shoes — light trainers or sandals in which your feet will not get tired during long walks.
