The majestic Yanaconas Virgin Monument is an outstanding historical and religious site located in the picturesque Andes, near the city of Cali. In a country as vibrant as Colombia, this monument features an 18-meter statue of the Virgin Mary weighing 950 tons, which has become a true symbol of faith and a cultural asset for the region.

The statue is set on a massive pedestal guarded by four stone lions and four angels. At the base of the monument, one can see the coats of arms of religious communities and the Latin inscription “Domina Nostra Andium, OPN”, which translates to “Our Lady of the Andes, pray for us.” Inside the base, there is even space for a small chapel, although it is currently rarely used for its intended purpose.
The site is recognized as an important architectural and sculptural monument with immense aesthetic value. Interestingly, the Yanaconas Virgin Monument was erected even before the famous Cristo Rey monument, making it one of the oldest structures of its kind in the area. Today, this place attracts not only pilgrims but also nature lovers wishing to enjoy panoramic views of the valley.
