The hottest period falls at the beginning of the year: from February to April, the average temperature holds at +27°C, and during the day the air consistently warms up to +29°C. This time is ideal for those seeking true summer warmth, although it is worth being prepared for the high humidity characteristic of these months.

The period from June to August can be tentatively called the local "winter", although for most travellers, this time will seem simply like a mild and comfortable summer. July is the coolest month of the year, when the average temperature drops to +24.4°C. In this season, the intense heat recedes: daytime highs rarely exceed +26°C, and minimums hold at +22...+23°C, creating pleasant conditions for excursions and walks without the risk of overheating.

It is important to note that there are practically no sharp temperature changes between day and night here. The difference in daily indicators is minimal and rarely exceeds 3–4 degrees. Even on the "coldest" nights of August, the temperature does not drop below +23°C, and in the warm season, nights remain truly balmy with readings around +25°C. Thanks to the influence of the ocean, the climate remains even, so you will hardly need warm clothing.

When planning a trip to Port-Gentil, it is important to consider the distinct seasonality of precipitation characteristic of this region of Gabon. The year here can be roughly divided into a long wet period, when rains fall almost daily, and a short dry season, which brings a respite from the high humidity.

The main rainy season covers most of the year, starting in October and continuing right through to May. The "wettest" months in terms of precipitation frequency are November and December, when up to 30 rainy days per month are recorded. During this period, as well as from January to April, the sky is often covered with clouds, and precipitation becomes a constant companion for locals and tourists.

The dry season arrives in June and lasts through August. This time is considered the most comfortable for those who wish to avoid the rain: the number of days with precipitation decreases sharply (to 3–5 days per month), and in July the rains practically cease. September acts as a transitional month, when the number of wet days begins to gradually increase, returning the city to its usual rhythm of tropical downpours.

When packing for Port-Gentil, give preference to clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton and linen, as the climate here is warm and humid all year round. The basis of your wardrobe should consist of t-shirts, shorts, light trousers, and light-coloured summer dresses, which will help you tolerate the heat more easily. Given the coastal location of the city, be sure to bring swimwear and beachwear.

It is important to consider the seasonality of rainfall when planning your luggage. From October to May, there is a large number of rainy days, so a light raincoat, a waterproof windbreaker, or a compact umbrella are essential items. In the dry season, which lasts from June to August, rains are extremely rare, and the air temperature becomes slightly more comfortable; however, a light long-sleeved top may be useful for evening walks when a fresh breeze blows from the ocean.
