History & Facts

The history of this site began long before the arrival of modern storefronts. Since 1884, this area was home to a cattle market, which served as an important economic hub for a long time. Later, during the industrial boom, it was the site of the popular Hertie department store, which eventually made way for the modern shopping complex.

The grand opening of the Neutor Galerie took place on November 6, 2014. The project was the result of significant investment, with construction costing approximately 120 million euros. It was developed by a consortium consisting of Dinslakener Baugesellschaft Walter Hellmich GmbH and Multi Development GmbH, who succeeded in creating a space that harmoniously blends modern architecture with the city's historical fabric.

The construction of the gallery was accompanied by a complete renovation of the surrounding public spaces, including Neutorplatz. Today, the facility is considered the "new gateway" to the historic center, breathing new life into the urban environment and providing citizens with a modern level of comfort.

Time Needed

If you just want to browse the main stores and check out the selection, 2–3 hours should be plenty. This is enough time to visit your favorite brand departments and make necessary purchases.

If you are planning a full day of relaxation, including a visit to the fitness studio, a leisurely lunch in one of the dining areas, or participating in entertainment events, it is worth setting aside about 4–5 hours. The center's bright and spacious atmosphere encourages visitors to take their time and enjoy the moment.
