Behind the unusual and "delicious" name of Pineapple Dam lies one of Hong Kong's most picturesque hydraulic structures. It is an essential part of the Shing Mun Reservoir complex, located in the Tsuen Wan district within the popular Shing Mun Country Park.
The dam got its name not from its shape, but from the history of the area: once, pineapple plantations cultivated by local Hakka farmers flourished here. Today, the site attracts travelers not for fruit, but for its serene panoramas, where the water's surface meets lush tropical forests.

The dam serves as a "gateway" to the country park and the starting point for numerous hiking trails. It is particularly famous for its nature trail, which winds through a forest of unique paperbark trees. When the reservoir's water level rises, it creates a surreal sight: the tree trunks are submerged in the water, reflected as if in a mirror.
