The architectural ensemble of the temple is impressive in its size: it covers an area of about 23 acres. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a majestic gopuram (entrance tower) about 30 meters high. One of the main gems of the temple is the famous 96-pillar hall, where each pillar is decorated with intricate and detailed carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. A walk through its extensive courtyards and pavilions allows you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of centuries-old history.
A special place in the temple complex is occupied by the main sanctuary, built on an elephant-shaped rock known as Hastagiri. The name of the deity itself, Varadaraja, translates as "the king among boon-givers," emphasizing his role in the beliefs of his followers. Visiting the temple is not just a sightseeing tour, but an opportunity to touch the living spiritual tradition of South India.
