General Weather Overview

The climate of Bushehr can be described as a hot and arid desert climate. Its location on the Persian Gulf coast ensures high temperatures throughout most of the year and an abundance of sunshine. For travellers, this means stable weather without sudden surprises, where the main factor to consider when planning a trip is the intensity of the solar heat.

The seasons here are quite distinct, but not in the way familiar to northern latitudes. Summer in Bushehr is very hot and long: from June to September, average daytime temperatures consistently exceed +33°C, often reaching peak values around +38°C. Winter, on the other hand, is incredibly mild and comfortable. Between December and February, the air warms up to a pleasant +17°C...+20°C, resembling a warm spring and creating ideal conditions for walks and excursions.

A characteristic feature of the local weather is the exceptional rarity of precipitation. From May to October, rain is almost completely absent, and the sky remains cloudless. A small amount of rainfall is possible only during the winter months, but even then, rainy days are extremely rare — usually no more than five per month. Therefore, when travelling to Iran and specifically to this city, you need not worry about an umbrella, but high-quality sun protection will be absolutely essential.

Temperature

The temperature regime in Bushehr is determined by its location in the south of Iran: a hot climate with a very mild winter prevails here. The coolest month of the year is January, yet even during this time, the average temperature remains a comfortable 16.6°C. During the day, the air usually warms up to 20°C, while nighttime figures rarely drop below 13–14°C. Frosts are completely uncharacteristic for this region, making the winter months and early spring the most pleasant period for walks and sightseeing.

Summer in Bushehr can be characterized as a period of extreme heat. The hottest months are July and August, when the average temperature reaches 34.8°C, and daytime maximums consistently hold around 38°C. Travellers should take note of an important feature of the local climate: nights during the summer season do not bring significant relief. The minimum temperature at this time of year is around 31°C, so the heat is felt practically around the clock.

Transitional seasons are weakly expressed here due to the rapid increase in heat. By May, average values approach 30°C, and September is practically indistinguishable from the summer months in terms of temperature. A tangible drop in temperature occurs only in November, when the heat subsides to a pleasant 23.5°C. It is worth noting that daily temperature fluctuations in Bushehr are insignificant: the difference between the daytime maximum and the nighttime minimum is usually only 4–7 degrees, ensuring a consistent temperature background.

Precipitation

Bushehr is distinguished by an extremely arid climate, so precipitation here is a rare and insignificant phenomenon. If you are travelling here between June and October, you will definitely not need an umbrella: during these months, rain is completely absent, and precipitation levels remain at zero. Spring also delights with dry weather; only in April and May is a single accidental rainy day possible.

The autumn-winter season brings a small amount of moisture. The "rainiest" periods are considered to be the months from November to February, when an average of 4 to 5 days with precipitation are recorded. However, even at this time, the rains are minimal: precipitation levels amount to just 1–2 mm, which most often manifests as a light, short-lived drizzle that will not interfere with walks.

Given the region's warm temperature regime, where even in winter the thermometer rarely drops below +13°C, snow does not occur in Bushehr. Precipitation falls exclusively in the form of rain, so travellers can count on clear skies and sunny weather practically all year round.

What to Pack

Considering the hot climate of Bushehr, especially between May and October when temperatures regularly exceed +30°C and can reach +38°C, the foundation of your wardrobe should consist of light clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen. The sun here is very active, so be sure to pack a wide-brimmed hat, high-quality sunglasses, and high SPF sunscreen in your suitcase. In the summer months, rain is virtually impossible, so you definitely won't need an umbrella, though a supply of light clothes for frequent changing will be handy.

Winter in this region is very mild and pleasant: in January and February, the daytime temperature holds in a comfortable range of +16...+17°C, rarely dropping below +13°C at night. For a trip during this season, we recommend using the layering principle: during the day you will be more comfortable in a T-shirt or shirt, while for evening walks by the sea, a light jacket, windbreaker, or jumper will come in useful. Although there is little precipitation (just a couple of millimetres), there are a few rainy days in winter, so a compact folding umbrella or raincoat may prove useful.

For sightseeing and walking along the promenade, choose the most comfortable flat shoes that provide good ventilation. It is also worth remembering that even in the heat, clothing should be sufficiently modest to protect your skin from the scorching sun and to respect local traditions; therefore, long loose trousers and tunics will be the ideal choice for any season.
