Imagine a blooming oasis nestled among harsh, sun-scorched mountains and arid desert. This is exactly what the Eilat Bird Sanctuary looks like—a unique nature reserve and international research center located in Eilat. This place has become a true sanctuary for millions of feathered travelers crossing Israel during their seasonal migrations.

Founded in 1993 on reclaimed land, the park occupies the site of an ancient salt marsh, of which less than 5% remains today. It is one of the world's most significant ornithological reserves, divided into a dedicated research zone and a visitor area open to tourists and nature enthusiasts.
The park owes its existence to the initiative of renowned ornithologist Reuven Yosef. He recognized the threat to traditional bird stopover sites due to rapid coastal development and managed to transform the abandoned territory into a vital ecological corridor of global importance.
