Imagine a deep emerald rift right in the middle of busy streets — that is the Valley of the Mills (Vallone dei Mulini). This amazing place, located in the city of Sorrento, is a unique geological formation that emerged thousands of years ago following volcanic eruptions. Today, it is not just a gorge, but a true "lost world" where nature is gradually reclaiming the remains of old industrial buildings.

The main feature of this site in Italy is its microclimate. Because part of the valley was closed off during the construction of the city square in the 19th century, constant humidity and a near-total absence of wind took over. This created ideal conditions for the growth of rare fern species and mosses, which have covered the six-story abandoned mill building in a thick green carpet.
The Valley of the Mills is considered one of the most photographed and mysterious attractions in Campania. The combination of rugged stone architecture and lush vegetation creates a surreal atmosphere reminiscent of a movie set for films about abandoned civilizations. The canyon is about 35 meters deep, making the view from above truly breathtaking.
