The Green Bazaar is not just a market, but the true heart and soul of Almaty, one of the oldest and most colorful trading platforms in Kazakhstan. Located in the city center, it has been a place where life bustles for over a hundred years, where the aromas of oriental spices and fresh produce mingle, and where locals and tourists meet in search of the finest gifts from the fertile Kazakh land. This place, rich in history, is a must-visit to experience the authentic atmosphere of the city.

Historically, the market was named "Green" because this was where the first spring greens and fresh vegetables from the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau were brought. Although it was officially renamed the "Central Collective Farm Market" during the Soviet era, its original, warmer, and more vibrant name stuck with the people forever. Today, it is a modern shopping complex that has retained the charm of a traditional oriental bazaar.
On the stalls of the Green Bazaar, you will find an incredible abundance of goods. They sell juicy Almaty apples, sweet melons, the freshest vegetables, fragrant herbs, as well as famous oriental sweets and dozens of types of nuts and dried fruits. A special place is held by the meat and dairy rows, where you can buy traditional Kazakh delicacies such as kazy and shuzhuk, and try national drinks like kymyz and shubat. The vendors here are always friendly, happy to let you taste their goods, and love to haggle, turning an ordinary grocery trip into an exciting adventure.
