In the heart of Kedah State rises one of the region's most elegant religious structures — the Al-Bukhary Mosque. Located in the city of Alor Setar, this mosque serves not only as a spiritual center but also as a true architectural gem gifted to the country by Malaysia and its famous patrons. It is the centerpiece of a large-scale complex that brings together educational and medical institutions under the auspices of the Albukhary Foundation.

The mosque's appearance is a stunning eclectic mix, bringing together features from the architecture of Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and Morocco. Dominating the snow-white building are seven brilliant blue domes, symbolizing the seven continents, while two slender minarets nearly 48 meters high are designed in the Mamluk style, reminiscent of the famous Prophet's Mosque in Medina. The main dome, inspired by Iranian design, is decorated inside with intricate carvings featuring the 99 names of Allah.
The courtyard (sahn) with its geometric pools and fountains is reminiscent of the Imam al-Bukhari Mausoleum in Samarkand, creating a sense of coolness and tranquility. The mosque can accommodate up to 3,000 worshippers in the main hall, and during major holidays, the entire complex space hosts up to 15,000 people, becoming a living symbol of the harmony between tradition and modernity.
