The climate in Tonalá perfectly lives up to the city's name, which translates from Nahuatl as "warm place." For most of the year, the city enjoys clear weather, especially from November to May, when precipitation is minimal. Temperatures in Tonalá are remarkably stable, remaining warm year-round. The hottest period is traditionally April and May, when daytime highs often reach +31...33°C. During this time, the pre-season heat is most noticeable, creating the atmosphere of a true tropical summer.

The winter months, such as December and January, bring very mild and pleasant weather. During the day, the air warms up to a comfortable +24°C, but travelers should keep diurnal fluctuations in mind: temperatures can drop to +10...12°C at night and in the early morning. This period in Mexico is considered the most favorable for those who prefer to avoid intense heat.

In the summer, despite plenty of sunshine, the heat is somewhat tempered by cloud cover and frequent rains. When packing for Tonalá, opt for clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. This will ensure maximum comfort during the day when the sun is strongest.
