The climate of Myeik can be described as hot tropical, with high humidity and stable temperatures throughout the year. Thanks to its geographical location, an atmosphere of eternal summer reigns here: the average air temperature rarely drops below +26°C, and there are no significant cold spells even in the winter months. Travellers should expect warm, and at times sultry, weather regardless of their travel dates.

Throughout the year, the weather is clearly divided into two main periods: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry period lasts roughly from November to April and is considered the most favourable time for tourism. During these months, especially from December to March, rainfall is minimal, the sky remains clear, and the sea is calm. In spring, before the arrival of the monsoons, temperatures reach their peak values, rising to +33°C during the day.

From May to October, the wet season, brought by monsoons, dominates the region. During this time, rainfall increases sharply: from June to August, it can rain almost daily, and humidity reaches its maximum. Despite the abundance of downpours, the air temperature decreases only slightly, remaining at a comfortable level of about +27°C; however, planning active excursions during this period may be more difficult due to weather conditions.

The climate in Myeik is characterised by stable warmth throughout the year, without drastic seasonal cooling. The hottest period here is not the calendar summer, but the spring months — March and April. At this time, before the arrival of the monsoons, the average air temperature reaches its peak: in April it is about 29.5°C, while during the day the air often warms up to 33.5°C. This is a time of dry heat when the sun is most active.

From June to September, when the rainy season arrives, the temperature regime becomes milder but humid. Average figures drop to 26.6°C – 27.2°C. During this period, the difference between day and night temperatures is minimal — only about 4-5 degrees, making it feel warm around the clock. In the dry season, which lasts from November to April, rain is extremely rare, and daytime temperatures often exceed 30°C. During this period, protection from the active sun is critical: be sure to bring a wide-brimmed hat, high-quality sunglasses, and cream with a high protection factor. It is also worth remembering the local culture and having clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for visiting Buddhist shrines.

From May to October, the rainy season arrives in the region, when precipitation can fall almost daily, reaching a peak in the summer months (up to 30 rainy days per month). At this time, instead of an umbrella, it is better to use a light but durable raincoat or a waterproof poncho, which are more convenient to wear in windy weather. Due to high humidity, things take a long time to dry, so give preference to quick-drying synthetic materials. Footwear should be as comfortable as possible and water-resistant — trekking sandals with non-slip soles are ideal.

Despite the general heat, in the winter months (December and January), night temperatures can drop to a comfortable 22°C. For evening walks or trips in transport with strong air conditioning, it is recommended to bring a light long-sleeved shirt or a thin windbreaker.
