Azatlyk Square is not just the main square of Naberezhnye Chelny in Russia, but a striking example of modern urban space. Located on Khasan Tufan Avenue, it covers an impressive 7.8 hectares and serves as the heart of the city's public life. Originally a formal Soviet-era space, the square was transformed through a massive reconstruction.

The reconstruction of Azatlyk Square was completed in 2019 as part of the "Five Steps of Development" program, aimed at improving the quality of life in Russian mono-towns. The project was handled by the DROM architectural bureau in collaboration with KB Strelka and KMT Project. Their main task was to turn the outdated space into a modern, multifunctional, and polycentric venue attractive to both residents and guests.
Today, Azatlyk Square is a dynamic center of attraction hosting city events, festivals, and holidays. It has become a favorite spot for walks, meetings, and relaxation, clearly demonstrating how thoughtful design can breathe new life into the urban environment and create a comfortable space for everyone.
