Overview

Capdepera enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate, which ensures pleasant weather and an abundance of sunny days throughout the year. The climate is characterized by very warm, dry summers and mild, relatively humid winters. Thanks to these conditions, Capdepera is a wonderful year-round destination, offering predictable and enjoyable weather.

The summer months, especially July and August, are the peak tourist season with hot and sunny weather. Average temperatures during this time reach 26-27°C, and there is almost no rainfall, creating perfect conditions for a beach holiday. Winters here are very mild, with no frost and daytime temperatures around 12-15°C. Although the number of rainy days increases slightly during the shoulder seasons and winter, overall precipitation remains extremely low year-round, making Capdepera one of the driest and sunniest spots in the region.

Temperature

Capdepera enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate, ensuring pleasant weather for most of the year. The hottest period lasts from June to September, with peak temperatures in July and August. During these months, the average temperature is around 26-27°C, while the daytime high often reaches or exceeds 30°C. The coolest months are January and February, when the average temperature stays around 12°C.

Summers in Capdepera are hot and sunny, making it an ideal beach destination. Notably, summer nights are also very warm—temperatures rarely drop below 20-23°C, creating comfortable conditions for evening strolls. Conversely, winter is very mild and frost-free. From December to February, daytime air temperatures are usually a pleasant 14-16°C, dropping to 9-11°C at night. Precipitation

Capdepera has a predominantly dry climate, so precipitation is low throughout the year. The town doesn't have a distinct rainy season like tropical regions. Instead, the weather is characterized by long dry spells interspersed with months of more frequent but usually very light rainfall. Given the mild winter temperatures, snow is extremely rare, and precipitation falls exclusively as rain.

Summer is the driest period. In particular, July is the driest month, when rainfall tends toward zero and there are only about two rainy days on average. June and August are also very dry with a minimal chance of rain, making them perfect for beach holidays and outdoor strolls.

The highest probability of precipitation occurs during the autumn months. September and November stand out with the most rainy days—around 10 per month. However, it's important to note that even during these periods, the total rainfall remains very low (about 2 mm), indicating a prevalence of light, short-lived showers rather than prolonged downpours. Spring and winter also see a moderate number of rainy days, maintaining the general trend toward sunny weather.

Packing Tips

When planning your trip to Capdepera, the first thing to pack is comfortable shoes. You'll be walking along cobbled streets and climbing up to the famous castle, so comfort is key. During the summer months, from June to August, the weather is hot and sunny. Your wardrobe should consist mainly of light and breathable items: t-shirts, shorts, sundresses, and, of course, a swimsuit. Don't forget sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat, and sunglasses. Despite the daytime heat, evenings by the sea can be cool, so a light sweater or shawl will come in handy.

For a trip in spring or autumn, layering is the best approach. Days are usually warm, but evenings and mornings can be chilly. Bring t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, a light sweater or fleece, as well as a windbreaker or denim jacket. While heavy rain is rare here, the number of overcast days increases during the shoulder seasons and winter, so a compact umbrella or a light waterproof jacket won't go amiss. In winter, from December to February, the weather is mild but cool. You will need warmer clothing: sweaters, jeans, and a mid-season jacket or coat to comfortably enjoy your walks.
