In the heart of the historic Şahinbey district lies the unique Şahinbey National Struggle Museum—a place where the heroic past, which Gaziantep is so proud of, comes to life. This modern complex, located in a restored historic building on Ulucanlar Street, is dedicated to the epic defense of the city during the struggle for independence, when Turkey stood up for its sovereignty.

The museum is a remarkable blend of traditional architecture and high technology. The exhibition is spread across 12 rooms and deep underground caves that once served as shelters for local residents. Here, visitors can see not only authentic documents and personal belongings of heroes but also immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the past thanks to interactive installations and wax figures made with striking precision.
The main feature of this place is its emotional impact. The museum was created by the Şahinbey Municipality to pass on the spirit of resilience and unity to future generations. It was thanks to their feat that the city was awarded the honorary prefix "Gazi" (the Victorious), which turned Antep into modern-day Gaziantep.
