A stroll through the park provides a sense of freshness and tranquility. Mature trees have been carefully preserved to provide deep shade, and the air is filled with the fragrance of flowers from the rose garden. An elegant Ottoman fountain and a modern illumination system add a special charm to the location, turning ordinary walking paths into magical alleys in the evenings.

The park's infrastructure is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail: everything for comfortable leisure is here — from cozy cafes and "smoke-free" picnic zones to fitness equipment and modern playgrounds. Located next to the major Malatya Park AVM shopping center and the municipality building, the park serves as an ideal spot to take a break during a busy day of sightseeing.

History & Facts

The history of this site is inextricably linked to the industrial development that Turkey experienced in the mid-20th century. The territory where citizens now relax used to belong to the state-owned Sümerbank textile factory. It was home to "lojmans" — residential buildings for the enterprise's employees, which during the Soviet-influenced period of the Turkish economy were symbols of industrial progress in Malatya.

After the factory buildings were closed and dismantled, city authorities decided to transform the vacant land into a recreational zone. A key feature of the project was the preservation of old trees that had been growing there since the factory's operational days. Thus, the park became an example of the successful transformation of an industrial zone into an eco-friendly public space.

The park received its current official name in honor of Abdullah Gül, the country's 11th president, highlighting the site's significance for the region. While strolling along the paths, you can spot an Ottoman-style fountain, which serves as an architectural reminder of the rich historical heritage of these lands.

Time Needed

For a quick tour and a pleasant walk along the main paths, 1–2 hours is sufficient. This is plenty of time to appreciate the beauty of the rose garden, take a few photos by the fountains, and enjoy a cup of coffee at a local cafe.

If you are planning a full family outing with a picnic in the designated area or want to combine your walk with shopping at the neighboring Malatya Park AVM, you should allow for 3 hours or more. The evening hours are especially conducive to a leisurely pastime when the decorative illumination of the fountains is turned on.

Working Hours

The park is open to visitors daily, making it accessible any day of the week. It is an excellent spot for both a morning jog and a late-night promenade.

The site's operating hours are: from 08:00 to 23:00 seven days a week. It is recommended to arrive at least an hour before closing to catch the beautiful evening illumination.
