After a major transformation in 2024, this spot in the United Kingdom found a new lease on life. The interior is inspired by the Cotswolds aesthetic: a sophisticated green facade palette meets warm brick walls, soft orange velvet armchairs, and plenty of fresh greenery. Repurposed furniture, like authentic church pews sourced from antique markets, adds a special charm to the space.

The venue is divided into several zones: a cozy bar on the first floor for casual meetings, an elegant restaurant on the upper level, and a bright conservatory with panoramic water views. It is an ideal spot for both a romantic dinner and relaxing with your dog after a long walk through the city.

What to Do

A visit here is first and foremost a gastronomic journey. Be sure to try the signature Foster’s baked eggs with yogurt and spicy nduja sausage for breakfast or a classic British chicken and leek pie. If you're a meat lover, look out for the local Hereford beef steaks cooked in a special charcoal-fired Bertha oven.

For drink enthusiasts, there is an excellent selection of local beers from the Deya and Gloucester Brewery breweries, as well as craft cocktails. On Fridays, they often host Steak Night, while Sundays are traditionally dedicated to classic roasts that bring entire families together.

In the warmer months, the best seats are on the outdoor terrace right by the water. Watching the harbor life with a glass of cold cider is one of the most pleasant things to do in this part of town. The atmosphere changes throughout the day: from a calm working vibe in the morning to lively fun in the evenings when the conservatory doors open.

Getting There

Finding the venue is easy, as it is located in one of the city's most recognizable areas — Gloucester Docks. If you are arriving by train, the walk from Gloucester Station takes about 10–15 minutes. You will need to head towards the waterfront along Llanthony Road, which will lead you directly to the historic warehouses.

For those who prefer to drive, paid parking is available in the Docks area. Simply follow the signs to the Docks tourist area. You can also easily reach this location from the city center by taxi or a pleasant bike ride — the distance from the center is only about one kilometer.

History & Facts

The building where the gastropub thrives today originally served as an industrial warehouse and is known as Kimberley Warehouse. Its history as an entertainment venue began back in April 1990, when the first bar opened under the name Dr Foster's. Over the decades, the place has changed, but a real breakthrough happened quite recently.

In 2024, the renowned group A Rule of Tum (ART Hospitality) took on the transformation of the space. During an extensive 10-week renovation costing around £350,000, the building was completely restored. The designers sought to preserve the warehouse's industrial spirit while blending it with the comfort of Cotswold country estates.

Today, the pub is considered a key element in the revival of the Gloucester Docks gastronomic scene. The founders are proud of having turned the old warehouse into the largest venue in their network, while preserving the authentic exposed brick and "Old Gloucester" atmosphere that is so dear to the locals.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to this atmospheric spot, consider your goals. If you've just stopped in for a cup of craft coffee from Bristol or a glass of local ale after a walk, one hour will be quite enough.

For a full lunch or dinner, especially if you decide to take a table in the second-floor restaurant or the bright conservatory with its water views, it's better to set aside 2–3 hours. This will allow you to leisurely enjoy the cuisine and the unique interior of the historic warehouse.
