The establishment was named after the local creek of the same name, which is reflected in the unique interior design. The design is infused with a fishing theme: you can see beer taps shaped like fishing gear and warm wooden accents that create the atmosphere of a rustic lodge. It is not just a bar, but a true focal point for those who appreciate quality drinks and a soulful environment.

Snitz Creek Brewery permanently features about 10 taps of exclusive beer, including seasonal releases and signature varieties. Special attention should be paid to the unique drinks inspired by local culture, such as the smoky ale flavored after the famous Lebanon bologna or a stout reminiscent of popular local candies. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, they brew an excellent root beer.

What to Do

The main reason to visit Snitz Creek Brewery is, of course, the tasting. Start your experience with a flight of several craft varieties: there is always something special among the 10 taps. Be sure to try the Seltzers Smokehouse Ale with its unique smoky aroma or the dessert Opera Fudge Stout, which will delight fans of chocolate notes. For those who want something light and traditional, the signature apple wheat ale is a perfect choice.

The establishment's kitchen deserves a special mention. The menu is filled with hearty dishes that pair perfectly with beer: from crispy pizzas and tacos to juicy burgers. A real challenge for your appetite is The Snitzer — a massive burger featuring Lebanon bologna, fried onions, and jalapeños. If you are feeling ambitious, try its giant version, where the amount of filling can reach two pounds!

The atmosphere of the place encourages not only eating but also socializing. There are regular happy hours, trivia nights, and live music evenings. In the warmer months, visitors enjoy spending time on the outdoor terrace. For families with children, a special play area is provided, ensuring guests of all ages are comfortable. Don't forget to look at the interior details — the fishing flies and reels used in the decor add a special charm to the place.

Getting There

The brewery is conveniently located in the heart of the city at 7 N 9th St, Lebanon. If you are traveling by car, you can reach it from nearby Hershey in just 20 minutes via US-422 W. The trip from Harrisburg will take about 30–40 minutes via I-81 S and PA-72 S.

For the convenience of visitors, free parking is provided on-site, which is a significant advantage for the downtown area. If you prefer not to drive after a tasting, it is best to use a taxi or Uber/Lyft services, as public transport options in this area are limited.

The area surrounding Snitz Creek Brewery is safe and pleasant for walking. You can easily find the establishment by heading toward the city's historic center; in the summer, it is easily recognizable by the lively outdoor terrace overlooking the square.

History & Facts

The history of Snitz Creek Brewery began in 2010 with a rather ordinary gift — a homebrewing kit given to Patrick Freer Jr. by his mother-in-law. This hobby quickly grew into a passion, and together with his brother-in-law Adam Szajda, Patrick began experimenting with recipes. After four years of bold experimentation, the home hobby transformed into an ambitious business project.

The official opening took place on January 16, 2014, and the event was historic for the region: the establishment became the first modern brewpub in Lebanon County. The founders invested about $200,000 in state-of-the-art Zhongde equipment to ensure the high quality of their beverages. The brewery quickly gained popularity, becoming an important catalyst for the revitalization of the city center.

In 2020, a new chapter began in the company's history when it was acquired by brothers Alan and Matt Funck of the Funck Restaurant Group. The new management preserved the spirit of the establishment while expanding the brand's reach by opening new locations in Annville and Palmyra. Today, under the supervision of head brewer Josh Shaker, they continue to brew legendary local varieties, staying true to the traditions established by the founders.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the atmosphere and cuisine of the establishment, it usually takes from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This is enough time to order a tasting flight of several craft beers, enjoy a leisurely lunch, and appreciate the interior inspired by local nature.

If you plan to visit the brewery during special events, such as trivia nights or live music evenings, you should budget about 3 hours for your visit. Families with children may also need a little more time, given the presence of a play area where younger guests can stay entertained while adults explore the beer list.
