An alternative option is flying to larger regional airports, such as New Bedford (EWB) or the air hub on the island of Martha's Vineyard (MVY), located approximately 80 km from the destination. Although these hubs handle more flights, the onward journey to Provincetown will require a transfer to a ferry or ground transport.

There is no direct railway service to the city of Provincetown, as the train tracks do not reach the very edge of the cape. The optimal solution for train enthusiasts is to purchase a ticket to major transport hubs, such as Boston or New Bedford.

Bus travel to Provincetown is an affordable way to enjoy the landscapes of Cape Cod without driving yourself. The popular route from the metropolis of Boston (a distance of about 226 km) usually takes around 5–6 hours depending on the number of stops and traffic conditions. Modern buses ensure a comfortable trip right to the centre of the resort.

There is also a possibility to get there from the city of New Bedford, however, this option often requires complex connections, which can significantly increase travel time. Travellers are advised to check the schedule in advance and choose direct trips or routes with convenient transfers to reduce time on the road.

Travelling by car along the legendary highway is one of the most scenic ways to get to Provincetown. The drive from the city of New Bedford (about 148 km) will take approximately 2 hours, allowing you to see the peninsula's colourful towns. The road from the metropolis of Boston, covering about 185 km, requires a bit more time — around 2.5 hours, but the views outside the window are worth it.

If you are heading from the direction of Martha's Vineyard island, expect approximately 3 hours of travel time considering logistics. Taxis for such distances can be an expensive luxury, so car rental often becomes a more cost-effective and flexible solution for independent travellers.
