When getting ready for a journey to Wrangell, it is important to remember that the climate here is cool and humid practically all year round. The main secret to comfort in such conditions is the principle of layering in clothing. Since there are very many rainy days here (on average about 20 per month), the first thing to put in your suitcase is a high-quality waterproof jacket with a hood or a reliable raincoat, as well as waterproof covers for your backpack and electronics.
Even in the warmest summer months, when the temperature holds around +14°C...+17°C, you will need fleece tops, sweaters, and long trousers. In winter, when the thermometer drops below zero, a set of thermal underwear, a warm down jacket, a hat, and gloves are necessary. Windproof clothing will be relevant in any season, as the coastal wind can create a sensation of a lower temperature than it actually is.
Pay special attention to footwear: it must be comfortable, closed, and preferably waterproof. Trekking boots with non-slip soles will be the ideal choice for walking around the city and its surroundings. Despite the frequent cloudiness, it is worth bringing sunglasses and sunscreen, especially if you plan long walks by the water or trips into nature.
