The main adventure base is located on the territory of Estancia Huyliche. From here, under the guidance of experienced guides, groups set off to conquer mountain trails on modern ATV UForce 1000 4x4 vehicles. The routes are designed so that every participant can feel the power of the machinery while simultaneously enjoying the silence of the Patagonian steppe.

The main pride of these tours is access to unique locations that are impossible to reach on foot. From the tops of the hills, breath-taking views open up over Lake Argentino, the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, and the famous peaks of the Andes, including the legendary mountains Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. The company focuses on an eco-friendly approach and safety, with a team of professionals with many years of experience.

What to Do

The main activity here is driving an ATV yourself across rugged terrain. Ascending the Calafate stream canyon, you will find yourself at the famous "Calafate Balconies," located at an altitude of 1,100 meters. From this point, a 360-degree panorama opens up, which is considered one of the best in the region for observing glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks.

After the mountain descent, participants will find the Labyrinth of Stones — an amazing jumble of rocks, caves, and ancient fossils. This is an ideal place for those interested in geology or those who just want to take spectacular photos against the backdrop of bizarre shapes created by the wind. The program is not competitive: guides emphasize comfort and insight, sharing details about local flora and fauna during stops.

The highlight of many programs is a visit to an old ranch house. There, guests can enjoy an authentic Patagonian lunch or dinner, providing a taste of the region's gastronomic traditions. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, tours on Overland all-terrain buses, trekking, and even multi-day trips to the most remote corners of national parks are available.

Getting There

The Patagonia Extrema office is located at Av. del Libertador 1215, right in the heart of the city. Thanks to its central location, it is easily accessible on foot from most local hotels or by taxi in just a few minutes.

For those arriving from further away, the main hub is Comandante Armando Tola Airport (FTE). It is located about 20–30 minutes' drive from the center. Shuttles and taxis run regularly from the airport to the city.

A significant advantage of the company is that almost all tours include a free transfer from your accommodation and back. You don't need to worry about finding transport to the starting point of the off-road sessions — the organizers will pick you up right from your hotel doorstep.

History & Facts

The history of Patagonia Extrema is inextricably linked to the development of adventure tourism in the region. The project team boasts more than 20 years of experience in organizing expeditions. Today, the company is considered one of the leaders in sustainable tourism, offering travelers a safe way to experience the wilderness without harming the ecosystem.

Tour routes pass through the historic lands of Estancia Huyliche. This authentic Patagonian ranch has preserved the atmosphere of rural life from years past: here you can see old buildings, corrals, and sheds that have been used by local ranchers for decades.

The geological past of these places is equally fascinating. During stops at Cerro Huyliche, you can find marine fossils that prove that millions of years ago this territory was underwater. The whimsical "Labyrinth of Stones," through which the tracks run, was formed as a result of thousands of years of wind erosion, turning the rocks into natural works of art.

Time Needed

For most standard programs, such as the 4x4 ATV safari, you will need about 3–4 hours. This is enough time to go through the briefing, enjoy the ride along the mountain slopes, take photos at the panoramic viewpoints, and have a snack at the ranch.

If you plan to go on a larger expedition, such as a full-day tour to Torres del Paine, be prepared to spend 10 to 12 hours. Such trips take the whole day and require an early departure, but they allow you to see several of the region's key natural landmarks at once.

The company office operates on a convenient schedule, allowing tourists to book a tour or clarify program details throughout the day. Please note that working hours are slightly reduced on Sundays.
