Current Weather

Planning a visit to Jhenaidah? Here you will find up-to-date weather information for Bangladesh, including the latest forecasts and temperature data to help you plan your trip perfectly.

Overview

The climate in Jhenaidah, located in the western part of Bangladesh, is distinctly tropical monsoon. This region is characterized by sharp seasonal changes determined by shifting air masses: a mild dry winter, a hot pre-monsoon summer, and a heavy rainy season.

Winter months, from October to February, are considered the most comfortable for travelers due to clear skies and moderate warmth. However, starting in March, temperatures begin to rise rapidly, transitioning into a humid summer, which is later replaced by powerful monsoons that bring the bulk of the annual rainfall.

Overall, the weather in Jhenaidah is characterized by predictable seasons. Travelers should expect consistently high temperatures for most of the year, with humidity increasing significantly during the summer, creating a classic tropical atmosphere.

Temperature

Temperatures in Jhenaidah are marked by hot summers and surprisingly mild, pleasant winters. The coldest month of the year is January, when average daytime temperatures hover around +24°C, while at night, the mercury can drop to +12°C. During this period, daily fluctuations are most noticeable: the difference between daytime warmth and nighttime coolness can reach 12–15 degrees.

With the arrival of spring, the heat begins to build, reaching its peak in April and May. At this time, daily highs often exceed +35°C, which, combined with rising humidity, makes the air heavy and sultry. This is the hottest period in Jhenaidah, when even nighttime temperatures rarely drop below +23°C.

The summer months (June–September), despite the arrival of the monsoons, remain consistently warm with temperatures around +30°C. Thick cloud cover and frequent rains take the edge off the daytime heat, but high humidity creates a "sauna" effect. Comfortable warmth returns to the city only by the end of October, marking the start of the best tourist season in Bangladesh.

Precipitation

Rainfall in Jhenaidah is distributed extremely unevenly, dictated by changing monsoon winds. The main rainy season occurs from June to October. During this time, the region is transformed, filling with greenery, but travelers should be prepared for frequent and intense downpours. The wettest months are traditionally July and August, when rainfall reaches its peak and there can be more than twenty-five rainy days in a month.

Summer rains in Bangladesh are often accompanied by strong gusts of wind and high cloud cover, which bring temporary relief from the heat. Thunderstorms are possible in May and June, preceding the main monsoon cycle. On such days, air humidity reaches its maximum, creating a characteristic tropical climate.

In contrast to summer, winter in Jhenaidah is the dry season. From December to February, rain is extremely rare, and in January, there may be no precipitation at all. This time is ideal for walks and excursions, as the sky remains mostly clear, and the lack of excess humidity makes being outdoors as pleasant as possible.

Packing Tips

When packing for Jhenaidah, focus on layering and natural fabrics. If your visit falls during the winter period (November to February), be sure to bring a light jacket, cardigan, or sweater — after sunset, temperatures in Bangladesh can drop significantly, creating a contrast with the warm day.

For the hot summer season and the monsoon period, clothing made of linen and cotton is an ideal choice, as it allows the skin to breathe in high humidity. Don't forget sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat, and high-quality sunglasses, as the tropical sun here is very strong even in cloudy weather.

During the rainy season (June–October), a compact umbrella or a sturdy raincoat, as well as comfortable shoes with non-slip soles, will be indispensable. We also recommend always carrying insect repellent and a small first-aid kit with basic supplies to ensure your visit to Jhenaidah leaves only pleasant impressions.
