General Weather Overview

The climate of Jessore can be described as tropical, with a distinct division between dry and wet seasons. The weather here shifts from pleasantly cool in winter to sweltering heat in summer, making the region interesting to visit at different times of the year depending on the traveller's preferences. This part of Bangladesh is characterised by high humidity during the summer months.

The winter period, lasting from November to February, is considered the most comfortable for many tourists: there is almost no rainfall, and the average air temperature remains in a pleasant range from +18°C to +24°C. With the arrival of spring, especially in April, the air warms up rapidly, and the thermometer often exceeds the +35°C mark, signalling the start of the hottest and driest time of the year before the rains arrive.

From May to October, the monsoon season dominates the region. This time is characterised by frequent and heavy rainfall, particularly in July and August, when it can rain almost daily. Despite the overcast weather, temperatures remain consistently high, around +29...+30°C. Travellers should take note of this feature: summer here is hot and humid, whereas winter is dry and moderately warm.

Temperature

The climatic conditions of the region make Jessore a city with distinct seasonality. The hottest period is spring and early summer: already in April, average daily highs reach 35°C, creating intense heat. The summer months, from June to September, are characterised by stable high temperatures around 30°C; however, due to high humidity, the heat may feel more intense. During this period, nights bring only slight relief, as the air temperature rarely drops below 26–27°C.

The winter season, lasting from November to February, brings mild and pleasant weather, which is ideal for excursions. January is traditionally the coldest month of the year: the average temperature is around 18°C. At this time, there is no exhausting heat, rainfall is practically absent, and sunny days create comfortable conditions for outdoor recreation.

Tourists should pay attention to significant daily temperature fluctuations during the winter period. Unlike summer, when the difference between day and night is minimal, the contrast becomes noticeable in winter. While the air warms up to a comfortable 24–25°C during the day, the thermometer can drop to 12–14°C at night, so it is recommended to bring warm clothing for evening walks.

Precipitation

The climate of Jessore is characterised by a marked alternation of dry and wet seasons. The winter period, extending from November to February, is perfect for those who prefer clear weather. During these months, precipitation occurs extremely rarely — statistics record an average of just a couple of rainy days per month, making winter the driest time of the year.

The situation changes drastically with the arrival of the monsoon season. Starting from May, the number of wet days grows rapidly, reaching its peak in the middle of summer. July and August are the rainiest months: in July, precipitation can be observed almost daily (up to 29 days), and in August — about 28 days. September also remains quite wet, but by October, the intensity of the rains begins to noticeably subside, signalling the imminent return of dry weather.

What to Pack

When planning a trip to Jessore, it is worth preparing for the hot and humid climate characteristic of this region for most of the year. Your wardrobe should be based on loose-fitting items made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen: they will help you cope better with high temperatures, which often exceed +30°C in April and May. Be sure to pack a wide-brimmed hat, high-quality sunglasses, and sun cream with a high protection factor, as the sun here can be very active.

If your trip falls during the monsoon season (from June to October), be prepared for high humidity and frequent rainfall — it can rain almost every day. During this period, a sturdy compact umbrella and a lightweight raincoat that is easy to carry will become indispensable companions. It is best to choose footwear that is maximally comfortable, quick-drying, and has a non-slip sole to move comfortably along wet streets.

In winter, from November to February, the weather in the city becomes the most pleasant and dry, however, nights can be quite cool, with temperatures around +12…+15°C. For evening strolls, we recommend using the layering principle: bring along a light jacket, a windbreaker, or a cosy jumper that can be worn over a t-shirt. During the day, the air warms up to a comfortable +25°C, so warm clothes can easily be removed and stowed in a backpack.
