The Cathedral of the Most Holy Savior (Catedral Santíssimo Salvador) is not just the main Catholic church of Campos dos Goytacazes, but a true architectural symbol of eastern Brazil. Located on the picturesque Santíssimo Salvador Square, it rises majestically above the banks of the Paraíba do Sul River, serving as both a local landmark and the spiritual heart of the region.

The building, constructed in 1935, is a magnificent example of the Neoclassical style. Its imposing facade is adorned with a monumental pillared portico and four bronze statues of the Evangelists—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Of particular artistic value is the cathedral's interior, decorated with 32 unique stained-glass windows, considered some of the most beautiful in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Holding the status of a Minor Basilica (Basílica Menor), this church serves as an important pilgrimage site and a major attraction for tourists. Here, the historical heritage of the colonial era blends harmoniously with the refined architecture of the first half of the 20th century, creating an atmosphere of grandeur and serenity.
