Located in the heart of the historic districts that grace the city of Havana, it is impossible to pass by one of the most atmospheric spots on the island of Cuba. Plaza de San Francisco de Asís is a majestic architectural ensemble that emerged back in the 17th century to serve the needs of the Spanish fleet and merchant class.

The main landmark of this space is the eponymous Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Its 42-meter bell tower remained the city's tallest structure for a long time, serving as a beacon for ships entering the bay. The square is striking for its colonial-style harmony and proximity to the sea, which gives it a special port-side charm.
In addition to religious monuments, here you can see the magnificent Fountain of the Lions, made of white Carrara marble, and several curious modern sculptures. This site is recognized as an important part of historical heritage and is rightfully considered one of the "four main squares" of Old Havana.
