Overview

Playas features a tropical arid climate, which provides comfortable and warm weather throughout the year. Monthly temperature fluctuations are minimal, making this resort an attractive destination at any time. The average annual temperature stays within 23-27°C, creating ideal conditions for beach holidays and coastal walks.

Despite the stable temperatures, Playas has two main seasons, differing primarily in rainfall. The wet season, or more humid period, lasts roughly from January to April. It is slightly warmer during this time, but the likelihood of brief showers increases, especially in February and March. From June to November, the dry season sets in: there is almost no rainfall, and the sky is usually clear and sunny. This period is considered the most comfortable for those who prefer dry and sunny weather.

Temperature

The city of Playas enjoys an exceptionally stable and warm tropical climate, with almost no sharp temperature fluctuations throughout the year. The average annual temperature stays within a comfortable range of 23°C to 27°C. February and March are considered the hottest months, when average temperatures reach nearly 27°C and daily highs consistently stay around 29°C. The "coolest" period falls in August and September, but even then, the average temperature is a pleasant 23.5°C, making Playas an attractive destination year-round.

The warm and humid season lasts from roughly January to April. During this time, the weather in Playas is at its hottest: daytime temperatures hover around 28-29°C, and nights stay very warm, with temperatures no lower than 24°C. This period also coincides with the season of most rainy days, though total precipitation remains moderate. The difference between day and night temperatures is minimal, providing a constant feel of tropical warmth.

From June to November, a drier and slightly less hot season sets in. Air temperatures during these months are very pleasant: rising to 26-27°C during the day, while nights become a bit fresher, at around 21-22°C. The months from August to November are particularly notable for having almost no rainfall. This period is ideal for those who prefer less intense heat but still want to enjoy the sun and the warm ocean.

Precipitation

The climate in Playas is clearly divided into two seasons: a short wet period and a long dry season. Despite the "rainy season," the city's total annual rainfall remains quite low.

The wet season occurs from January to April. February and March are the "wettest" months, yet even then, rainfall levels do not exceed 6 mm. Interestingly, despite this low volume, the number of rainy days in March peaks at an average of 21 days. This indicates that Playas is characterized by frequent drizzle or very light, short showers rather than heavy downpours.

The dry season lasts from June to November and features minimal rainfall. The months from August to November are the driest, when there is almost no rain at all. During this period, the number of rainy days drops sharply, reaching a minimum in November with only about two. From December, humidity begins to gradually increase, preparing the city for the next wet season.

Packing Tips

When planning a trip to Playas, prepare for warm and sunny weather year-round. Your wardrobe should mainly consist of light summer clothing: shorts, cotton t-shirts, sundresses, skirts, and, of course, several swimsuits. Since the sun is very strong here, be sure to bring high SPF sunscreen, quality sunglasses, and headwear—a wide-brimmed hat or a cap. Sandals or flip-flops are perfect for the city and beach, but don't forget a pair of comfortable closed-toe shoes, like sneakers or espadrilles.

The climate in Playas has two subtle seasons to consider when packing. From January to April is the so-called "wet season." Although total rainfall is low, frequent but short and light showers are possible. For this period, it’s a good idea to bring a light waterproof windbreaker or a compact umbrella. From June to November, a dry and slightly cooler season arrives. It is still hot during the day, but evenings can be fresh, especially with the ocean breeze. For evening walks, a light sweater, cardigan, or long-sleeved shirt will come in handy.
