For those who prefer public transport, the ideal option is bus No. 59, which departs from the central railway station (Balti jaam). The bus runs approximately once an hour, and the ride will allow you to enjoy views of industrial districts gradually giving way to natural landscapes. During the summer season, this route is very popular, so the bus can be quite crowded.

Active travelers can get here on foot or by bicycle, passing the Seaplane Harbour along scenic coastal paths. You can also always use taxi or car-sharing services, which will provide maximum comfort and speed for your journey to the Paljassaare Peninsula.

Pikakari Beach is a wonderful example of how a former industrial zone can be transformed into an ecological oasis. For a long time, the Paljassaare Peninsula was associated exclusively with plants and factories, the remains of which still create a unique industrial vibe today. However, in recent years, the area has been completely reorganized into a modern recreation zone.

The nearby Katharina Pier (Katariina kai) holds special historical significance. It was built at the beginning of the 18th century as part of a large-scale defensive system — the battery of Peter the Great's Naval Fortress. A walk along this pier allows you to literally touch the history of Baltic maritime fortification.

Today, the ecological value of this place is as significant as its history. The beach borders a reserve recognized as an ornithological zone of European importance. More than 227 species of birds have been recorded here, many of which are under strict state protection, making this site a unique blend of naval history and untouched nature.

To simply get to know the location, 1–2 hours will be enough. This time is sufficient for a short walk along the sandy shore and the historical Katharina Pier, as well as for taking a few panoramic photos.

However, if you are planning a full day of relaxation with swimming, a picnic, and a walk along the nature trails of the Paljassaare reserve, it is better to set aside 2 to 4 hours or even spend the entire afternoon here. In the summer, many tourists and locals stay on the beach until sunset, enjoying the sea air and the views of passing cruise ships.

Pikakari Beach is open for visiting 24/7, making it a great place for walks even late at night or early in the morning. Entry to the territory is free.

It is worth noting that the lifeguard service only operates during the summer season (from June to August) from 09:00 to 20:00. At other times, swimming is at the visitors' own risk.
