"Alte Liebe" (Alte Liebe), which means "Old Love" in German, is one of the most iconic and soulful attractions in the city of Cuxhaven in Germany. Originally a port pier built in 1733, it has evolved over time into a popular viewing platform and a true symbol of the city. Located on the edge of the harbor and the busy shipping channel of the Lower Elbe, this site attracts both tourists and locals.

Structurally, Alte Liebe is a two-story wooden structure that serves as both a pier and a breakwater. Its cozy, slightly nostalgic atmosphere fully justifies its name. This is a place where you can fully experience the city's maritime spirit and enjoy magnificent views of one of the world's busiest shipping lanes.
The main reason people come here is to watch the passing ships. The platform offers a great view of massive container ships, cruise liners, and small sailboats. From April to October, a special announcer informs the audience about the passing vessels, explaining their size, origin, and destination. Alte Liebe is not just a viewing platform, but an ideal place to take a break, breathe in the fresh sea air, and admire the endless stretches of water.
