Kornarou Square is one of the most cozy and atmospheric spots in the heart of Heraklion. Named after the prominent Cretan poet Vitsentzos Kornaros, the square is a living crossroads of history, where Venetian heritage meets the Ottoman past and the modern rhythm of life in Greece.

The centerpiece of this space is the legendary Bembo Fountain—the oldest surviving fountain in the city, dating back to 1588. Its elegant columns, Venetian coats of arms, and ancient headless statue draw the eyes of architecture enthusiasts. Nearby stands a romantic bronze sculpture depicting Erotokritos and Aretousa—characters from the most famous Cretan poem.

It is the perfect location to feel the spirit of Crete while enjoying a cup of coffee in the shade of the trees to the steady splash of water from the ancient fountain.
