Located in a picturesque setting, the center attracts attention with its interactivity. Unlike traditional museums, active participation is encouraged here: many exhibits can be touched, turned, and launched. This makes the institution one of the most visited attractions in India, especially among families with children and students.

The center harmoniously blends into the cityscape of Bhopal, known for its majestic mosques and mirror-like lakes. It serves as a bridge between the region's rich historical past and its technological future, offering guests an exciting journey into the world of discovery.

What to Do

Visitors can expect numerous interactive galleries where every exhibit is a hands-on experiment. You can explore optical illusions for yourself, understand the principles of mechanics, or see how the laws of magnetism work. The zones dedicated to natural sciences are particularly popular, where biology and ecology are presented in an accessible, game-like format.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, the center regularly hosts science shows, seminars, and creative workshops. Special educational programs are organized for schoolchildren and students, turning learning into an exciting adventure. It is also worth visiting the planetarium or temporary themed exhibits, which are frequently updated, bringing something new to every visit.

A stroll through the center's grounds is also a pleasure: outdoor models and installations are set up here, allowing you to study science in the fresh air. This is an ideal place for those who want to combine relaxation with expanding their horizons.

Getting There

Located in the scenic Shyamala Hills area on the Malwa plateau, this science complex is situated in the central part of the city. Getting there is easy, as the capital of Madhya Pradesh has a well-developed transport network and good connections with other regions.

The most convenient way for a tourist is to take a taxi or the auto-rickshaws (tuk-tuks) that are popular in India. The trip from the city center or main transport hubs takes very little time. Public transport also regularly runs toward the North TT Nagar district.

If you prefer buses, look for routes passing through Banganga Road. The city does not yet have a nearby metro station, so surface transport remains the primary option for visiting this attraction.

History & Facts

The official opening of this important educational institution took place on January 12, 1995. The honor of cutting the ribbon fell to the country's president, highlighting the project's significance for all of India and its commitment to developing scientific potential.

Interestingly, the very location of the center has deep historical roots. The city where it is located was originally called "Bhojpal." Its founder in the 11th century is considered to be King Bhoj of the Parmara dynasty. The name comes from the ruler's name and the word "pal" (dam), which the king built to create the massive Upper Lake.

In the early 18th century, the Afghan commander Dost Mohammed laid the foundation for a powerful fort here, turning the settlement into a fortified city. Over time, this place became the second-largest Muslim state in colonial India, preserving its unique atmosphere of blended cultures to this day.

Time Needed

To leisurely explore all the halls and try out the interactive models, visitors usually need from 2 to 3 hours. If you are planning a visit with children, the time may increase, as young explorers often linger at each exhibit for a long time.

For those who want a deep dive into the topics or are participating in workshops, we recommend setting aside half a day for your visit. This will allow you to combine the permanent exhibition with temporary displays and a walk through the surrounding grounds, which offer pleasant views, without any rush.

Working Hours

The doors of this science and education space are open to guests daily, including weekends. The schedule is very convenient for both morning visits and those who prefer afternoon strolls.

You can visit the center anytime from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. This schedule is applicable every day of the week — from Monday to Sunday — making it easy to include the exhibition in your Bhopal travel itinerary.
