Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a majestic Hindu sanctuary located in the city of Trivandrum, in the heart of the state of Kerala in southern India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple is one of the 108 sacred pilgrimage sites for followers of Vaishnavism and represents a unique blend of Dravidian and Kerala architectural styles. Its monumental seven-tier gopuram (tower), decorated with intricate carvings, leaves an indelible impression on visitors.

The main shrine of the temple is a unique and massive statue of Vishnu in the special \"Anantha-Shayana\" posture — he reclines in a state of eternal mystical sleep on the giant serpent Anantha-Shesha. A lotus grows from the deity's navel, upon which Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe, is seated, while his consorts, the goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi, are nearby. The grandeur of the statue is so great that it can only be fully viewed through three separate doors, sequentially contemplating different parts of the deity.
The temple gained worldwide fame in 2011 when its secret underground vaults were opened. They revealed countless treasures: mountains of gold coins, giant chains, crowns, and statues encrusted with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, accumulated over many centuries as offerings to the deity. Thanks to this discovery, the temple was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the richest Hindu temple in the world, adding even more mystery and appeal to it.
Visiting the temple requires adherence to a strict dress code: men must wear a traditional dhoti, and women a sari. Photography and video recording are prohibited inside, which helps preserve the special atmosphere of sanctity. Access for non-Hindus may be restricted; however, even an external view of this architectural and spiritual wonder leaves unforgettable impressions.
