On the eastern edge of the historic center of Potenza stands Guevara Tower — a majestic witness to the medieval past that Italy is proud of. This massive cylindrical structure, about 20 meters high, is the only surviving fragment of an ancient castle that once served as a powerful defensive hub for the Basilicata region.

Built around the 9th century as a strategic observation post, the tower consists of three above-ground floors and one underground level. Today, it is recognized as an important cultural site where historical architecture meets contemporary art. The surrounding green park makes it a popular spot for both tourists and locals seeking tranquility in the heart of the city.
In recent years, the tower has been fully restored and transformed into an art space: the underground level houses a picture gallery, while the upper levels are used for art exhibitions and cultural events. It is a unique place where the spirit of history harmoniously blends with modern creative energy.
