The climate in Zarqa is an arid desert type, which makes the weather here drier and hotter compared to neighboring Amman. Located in Jordan at an altitude of about 625 meters above sea level, the city is characterized by stable weather conditions and an abundance of sunny days throughout the year.

The seasons in this region are quite distinct: long, scorching summers are followed by short, moderately cool winters. Thanks to low humidity, the heat is easier to bear, and the lack of proximity to large bodies of water creates a typically continental weather pattern with clear skies and rare precipitation.

The overall climate is favorable for visiting almost any time of year; however, it is worth keeping in mind that the desert terrain dictates its own rules, including low humidity and a lack of significant cloud cover most of the time.

Temperature patterns in Zarqa are marked by significant seasonal and daily fluctuations. The hottest period falls in July and August, when daytime temperatures reliably reach +34°C...+35°C. However, thanks to the desert climate, nights bring long-awaited relief, and temperatures in Jordan can drop to a comfortable +20°C even in summer.

The winter months, especially January and February, are characterized by mild daytime temperatures around +14°C...+16°C. Nevertheless, tourists should be prepared for chilly nights when the air in the city can cool down to +5°C. The difference between the daytime high and nighttime low in winter is often about 10–12 degrees.

The transitional periods—spring and autumn—are considered the most favorable times to visit Zarqa. In April and October, an ideal balance is established: daytime temperatures stay around +22°C...+28°C, providing perfect conditions for long walks and exploring the city without exhausting heat or winter chill.

Zarqa is characterized by a pronounced lack of moisture, which is typical for the arid regions of Jordan. Most precipitation falls during the winter period, from November to February, with the peak occurring in December and January. Even in these months, rainfall is brief, occurring on average 7–8 days per month.

The summer season in the city is completely dry: from June to September, the probability of precipitation is practically zero. The sky remains crystal clear, and humidity is minimal. During this time of year, you don't need to worry about umbrellas while enjoying consistently sunny weather.

Snow in this part of the country is an extremely rare phenomenon and almost never stays on the ground. The total annual precipitation in Zarqa is low, usually around 30–50 mm, making this region one of the driest in the country.

When planning a trip to Zarqa in the summer months, opt for clothing made of lightweight natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring a wide-brimmed hat, high-quality sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen, as the sun in Jordan is very intense. Despite the daytime heat, a light windbreaker or a pashmina will be useful for evening walks when the temperature drops noticeably.

A winter wardrobe should be based on the principle of layering. Jeans and sweaters are suitable for the daytime, while a warm jacket or sweater will be needed for evening outings, as nights can be quite cold. Comfortable closed-toe shoes are essential for walking around the city in any season.
