What to Do

A visit to De Gudde Wëllen is first and foremost an immersion into the world of live music. The club is famous for its intimate concerts, where the line between the artist and the audience virtually disappears. Talented international bands perform here regularly, and the program covers a wide range of genres, from indie and jazz to hip-hop. On weekends, the second floor transforms into a dance floor where you can have a great time moving to DJ sets.

For those who prefer a more industrial and energetic atmosphere, the club's basement hosts acid and dub techno sessions. The concrete walls and raw energy of the sound create a unique vibe here, especially prized by electronic music fans. This place is perfect for feeling the true drive of the city at night.

During the warmer months, relaxing on the panoramic terrace is a must. Here, you can sample the best local beers or signature gin-based cocktails while enjoying the view of the historic quarters. The friendly staff and laid-back setting make De Gudde Wëllen a wonderful spot for both lively parties and cozy get-togethers with friends in the heart of Luxembourg City.

Getting There

The De Gudde Wëllen club is conveniently located in the city's historical core at 17 Rue du St Esprit. This is a pedestrian zone within the Ville-Haute district, so the best way to reach it is by taking a stroll through the picturesque streets of the Old Town. The venue is situated right near the city walls, making it an excellent final stop on a sightseeing route.

If you are using public transport, any bus or tram heading to major hubs like Hamilius or Place Guillaume II will work perfectly. From these stops, the bar is just a 5–10 minute walk away. The city's public transport system is excellent, making it easy to plan your visit.

A taxi ride from the central station or the airport takes about 10–15 minutes. Keep in mind that parking in the historical center is extremely limited, so we recommend leaving your car in one of the parking garages outside the Old Town and enjoying a walk through the compact and safe Ville-Haute area.

History & Facts

The story of De Gudde Wëllen began in 2014 through the initiative of Luka Heindrichs. Before launching this project, Luka was actively involved in organizing the large-scale Luxembourgish festival Food for Your Senses. His accumulated experience and passion for music allowed him to transform a three-story building in the city center into a significant international venue capable of hosting artists of all levels.

Since its opening, the club has evolved tirelessly, building strong ties with music agents from the UK, Germany, and the Benelux countries. This has allowed the venue to become a launchpad for many promising musicians just beginning their journey to fame. Throughout this, the project has always maintained its artistic integrity, focusing on sound quality and authentic performances.

Interestingly, the famous summer terrace, which has become the bar's trademark today, was established in its current form as the pandemic was winding down. It became a symbol of urban revival and gave the club a second wind. Today, the venue is considered one of the key centers of the local music scene, where the capital's new cultural trends are shaped.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to De Gudde Wëllen, you should consider the style of your evening. If your goal is simply to have a beer and enjoy the view from the terrace, 1–2 hours will be quite enough. However, keep in mind that on popular summer evenings, the terrace can get crowded, so you might want to allow some extra time to find a seat.

If you are heading there specifically for a live concert or plan to dance to DJ sets on the weekend, your visit could last 3–4 hours or more. The club's atmosphere encourages long conversations and total immersion in the musical rhythm, so many guests prefer to stay until closing time.

Working Hours

The venue's doors usually open in the late afternoon. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the bar is open from 17:00 to 00:00. For those planning a night out at the end of the week, the opening hours are extended until 03:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Mondays and Sundays are traditionally the venue's days off.

Please note that during the summer period, the terrace opening hours may vary depending on the weather. As the schedule of concerts and special parties is updated regularly, we strongly recommend checking the club's official website for the most up-to-date information before your visit.
