For active recreation, there are sports grounds and special paths for rollerblading that circle three artificial lakes. While walking through the grounds, you will surely come across unusual art objects: a full-scale Spanish galleon and a replica of the Space Shuttle Columbia. Papagayo Park, also officially known as Ignacio Manuel Altamirano Park, appeared much later as a response to the city's need for green recreational areas. Its creation was an important stage in shaping the tourist image of the resort, which began to attract world stars and politicians from the mid-20th century. Over time, the park has evolved into a full-fledged ecological reserve.

Interestingly, the park's territory covers a vast area of 218,000 square meters. Today, it serves not only as a place for relaxation but also as an important educational center where rare species of flora and fauna from the state of Guerrero are preserved. The themed objects installed here, such as a full-scale replica of a Spanish galleon, serve as a reminder of the city's maritime past.
