What to Do

The main adventure here is, of course, drift racing. After a mandatory briefing, you'll head to the 220-meter track to learn how to enter corners "sideways" with style. You can choose the right speed level: from a relaxed mode for beginners to professional races where powerful engines deliver a real adrenaline rush. Sliding on these specialized karts is completely safe but provides plenty of unforgettable emotions.

Beyond racing, the complex offers two floors of arcade games, where you can have fun while waiting for your session. For those who prefer to watch the action on the track, there are dedicated spectator zones. If you get hungry, there are vending machines with snacks and drinks, as well as BBQ areas and party rooms, making it a great choice for birthdays or corporate events.

Session prices vary from 30 to 75 NZD for adults and from 25 NZD for children. To guarantee a spot on the track and avoid waiting in line, it is highly recommended to book in advance through the official website, as the complex can be fully booked during peak hours.

Getting There

The complex is located at 82 Duke Street, Frankton, which is very close to the city center. If you are traveling by car, the trip from the center will take only a few minutes: drive along State Highway 1 south towards the Frankton area, then turn onto Duke Street. Convenient parking for visitors is available on-site.

For those who prefer public transport, bus routes heading to the Frankton stop are suitable. From the stop, it is about a 10–15 minute walk to the destination. This is a great opportunity to warm up a bit before an exciting race.

If you are arriving from the airport, the most convenient option is to use taxi or Uber services. The trip of about 10–15 kilometers will take approximately 15–20 minutes depending on traffic. We recommend using navigation apps to choose the most optimal route in real-time.

History & Facts

The story of this unique place began back in 1987 thanks to the efforts of Peter Zip, a former speedway racer. While working at a regular go-kart track, Peter noticed that visitors enjoyed sliding the karts through corners most of all. Instead of fighting it, he decided to create a whole new type of entertainment and developed the first specialized drift karts.

The name Blastacars came about spontaneously: Peter often heard enthusiastic customers say “That was a blast!”, which became the brand's foundation. For over 30 years, the karts were hand-assembled by a team of New Zealand engineers who constantly improved the design, focusing on power, durability, and ease of handling.

In 2017, the center moved to a modern facility in Hamilton, and a year later, the business was taken over by a couple — Chris and Michaela. Being parents of four, they brought a special atmosphere of hospitality to the project while preserving the technical heritage and the spirit of drive established by the founder.

Time Needed

Usually, 1 to 2 hours is enough for a standard visit to this entertainment center. This time is sufficient for the mandatory safety briefing, getting your gear ready, and enjoying 10–15 minutes of intense track time.

If you plan to do more than one session and also want to check out the arcade zone or relax in the BBQ area, you should schedule about 3 hours. For large groups and corporate events, the stay may be longer, as the competitive element can be very engaging.

Working Hours

The Blastacars complex is usually open from Tuesday to Sunday. Monday is a day off. On weekdays, the center opens at 12:00 PM and stays open until 6:00 PM (on Tuesdays) or until 9:00 PM (Wednesday to Friday). On weekends, doors are open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturday and until 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Please note that during school holidays and public holidays, hours may be extended from 10:00 AM daily. Since the venue may close early if there are no advance bookings, we strongly recommend checking the current schedule on the official website before visiting.
