A key feature of the local climate is the clear and strict division into dry and wet seasons. From October to April, there is practically no rainfall, and dry, sunny weather settles in the city. This time is considered the most stable, although tourists should be prepared for the scorching sun and low humidity.

The rainy season in this region is relatively short and lasts from June to September. The peak humidity and number of rainy days occur in July and August, which brings some relief from the extreme heat, lowering average temperatures to +27–29°C. For a comfortable introduction to the city, it is best to choose the winter months when the heat subsides and rains do not interfere with walks.

Climatic conditions in Sokoto are characterised by high temperatures for most of the year, which is typical for this region. The hottest period falls on the spring months preceding the rainy season. In April and May, the daytime heat reaches its peak: average maximum thermometer readings rise to 40–41°C. This time requires caution and sun protection from travellers, as the heat can be quite intense.
