A car journey from Trondheim takes about 1.5–2 hours along scenic roads that wind through the valley.

For those who prefer public transport, Oppdal is an excellent choice as it has its own railway station. Trains from Oslo and Trondheim run regularly, and you can quickly reach the slopes from the station by taxi or local bus. The valley serves as a natural gateway between Eastern Norway and Trondheim, ensuring that transport links are exceptionally well-developed.

If you are arriving from further afield, the nearest major air hub is Trondheim Airport (Værnes). From there, you can rent a car or take a combined train and bus route to enjoy the majestic views of the Dovrefjell mountain range on your way to the resort.

Archaeological finds confirm that people have lived in this "upper valley" (the translation of the Old Norse name Uppdalr) since the Stone Age. In the Middle Ages, an important pilgrimage route to Nidaros Cathedral passed through these mountains. However, given the scale of the complex spanning four peaks, experienced travelers recommend setting aside 2–3 days for a visit. This will allow you to explore each of the five skiing zones without rushing, find your favorite runs, and fully experience the variety of terrain that Oppdal has to offer.

The resort's operating hours allow you to plan both daytime and evening skiing sessions. On most days, the complex is open from 10:00 to 16:00, which is standard for the Norwegian winter. However, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, snow enthusiasts have a great opportunity to return to the slopes in the evening: after a daytime break, the lifts start up again from 18:00 to 20:30 for night skiing under floodlights.
