The Røros Market (Rørosmartnan) is one of the oldest and most colorful traditional fairs in Europe, annually bringing the snow-covered streets of Røros to life. Originating in the 17th century as a trade gathering for miners and craftsmen, today it represents a unique fusion of living history, Nordic culture, and festive fun in the heart of Norway.

The event unfolds against a backdrop of stunning wooden architecture, which earned the town its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Strolling down the main street, Peder Hiortgata, visitors find themselves in the settings of past centuries, where modern goods sit alongside traditional items made of leather, wool, and wood using ancient techniques.
The fair is famous for its authentic atmosphere: here you can meet traders in national costumes, hear the sounds of folk music, and see horse-drawn carriages arriving from remote corners of the region. The Røros Market is not just about shopping, but a large-scale cultural festival highlighting the rich heritage of the copper industry and the spirit of the Norwegian North.
