On the Atlantic coast, in the port city of Matosinhos, you will encounter one of Portugal's most unusual and memorable landmarks—the "She Changes" sculpture (known in Portuguese as Ela Muda). This large-scale installation, located at one of the main traffic junctions, has become a true symbol of the city and its connection to the sea.

The sculpture is a giant three-dimensional bright red net that appears to float in the air, suspended from massive steel supports. Its creator, American artist Janet Echelman, is known for her works that "live" and interact with the environment. "She Changes" is no exception: under the gusts of the Atlantic wind, the mesh structure gently sways, constantly changing its shape.
The name of the installation reflects its main concept—mutability. It symbolizes not only the changing nature of the ocean but also the region's rich fishing traditions, where nets play a key role. This dynamic and vibrant work embodies the constant development and movement characteristic of both the city of Matosinhos and the forces of nature that surround it.
