The city's main station, Astrakhan-1, is a key transport hub receiving direct trains from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and other regions of the country. A journey to the rhythmic sound of the wheels allows you to leisurely observe the changing landscapes, from the forests of central Russia to the endless southern steppes.

For those travelling from cities without direct connections, travel via major neighbouring hubs, such as Volgograd, with a subsequent transfer is possible. This is a convenient way to reach the lower Volga with comfort and safety.
