On the high bank of the Vyatka River in the city of Kirov stands the majestic Eternal Flame memorial — one of the most significant historical landmarks carefully preserved by Russia. Opened in 1967, this memorial complex is an architectural focal point of the embankment and a symbol of popular remembrance for local heroes.

The center of the composition features a 12-meter octagonal white stone obelisk. It is flanked by two semi-circular concrete wings that seem to embrace the sacred flame, creating an atmosphere of peace and solemnity. Touching lines by the poet O.M. Lyubovikov are carved into the stone, urging people to remember those who brought peace at the cost of their lives.
The complex, designed by architect Y.I. Karmazin and sculptors F.A. Shpak and V.S. Ryazantsev, is recognized as an important historical monument. Thanks to its location at the intersection of Moskovskaya Street and Grin Embankment, the memorial attracts both those wishing to pay tribute to the past and lovers of beautiful panoramic views.
