History & Facts

The history of the Kirov Park of Culture and Leisure in Pyatigorsk dates back to 1829. It was then, on the initiative of General Georgy Arsenyevich Emmanuel, that an extensive fruit orchard and vegetable garden were established on this site. Its main purpose was to grow tree saplings and flowers intended for landscaping not only Pyatigorsk itself but the entire Caucasian district. Originally, this green space was called the "State Garden" and kept this name until 1917.

The famous architect of that time, Giuseppe Bernardazzi, whose talents left a significant mark on the architectural appearance of Pyatigorsk, was involved in planning the "State Garden." The care of the plants and the implementation of gardening ideas were entrusted to a gardener named Jersey, specially invited from England. Their joint efforts laid the foundation for the park's future development, turning it into one of the city's most picturesque spots and establishing traditions of careful treatment of nature.

Over time and through changing eras, the park's name also changed. In 1917, the "State Garden" was renamed and became known as the "Karl Liebknecht Resort Park." It received its current, well-known name, Kirov Park of Culture and Leisure, in 1952, when it was named after the prominent statesman S.M. Kirov. The park bears this name to this day, having witnessed many historical events and changes.

Throughout its long history, the park has been repeatedly improved and developed, adapting to the needs of residents and resort guests. Today, the Kirov Park of Culture and Leisure is not just a green zone but an important element of the urban environment of Pyatigorsk, carefully preserving its rich cultural and natural heritage. It remains a favorite vacation spot where history and modernity intertwine, attracting visitors with its well-kept appearance and unique atmosphere.
