One of Riviera's main gems is its impressive dendrological collection. Imagine: over 10,000 trees and shrubs grow on its territory, representing about 240 different plant species. Among them, you can find specimens common to southern Russia as well as rare exotic species. Thanks to the abundance of evergreen plantings, the park remains attractive and fresh at any time of year, inviting you for a walk even on cooler days.

Riviera is a place where everyone will find something to their liking. Here, shady alleys perfect for strolling coexist harmoniously with historical buildings preserving the memory of the past and modern rides that provide an adrenaline rush. Numerous cafes invite you to relax and have a snack, fountains offer coolness on hot days, and sports and children's playgrounds ensure active leisure for the whole family. Additionally, the park conveniently borders the popular Riviera Beach, allowing you to combine a walk along green paths with relaxation by the sea.

A visit to Riviera Park will be a bright and memorable event of your trip to Sochi. It is an ideal place for leisurely strolls, family holidays, romantic dates, and discovering the unique nature and atmosphere of this hospitable resort.

For the convenience of visitors, the park features cafes, souvenir shops, and designated photo zones to capture the bright moments of your holiday.

History & Facts

The history of Riviera Park is inextricably linked with the name of Vasily Alekseevich Khludov, a prominent Russian industrialist and philanthropist of the late 19th century. Having inherited a substantial fortune in 1882, he turned his attention to the picturesque lands of the Sochi district. With his characteristic business acumen, Khludov began purchasing plots, laying the foundation for a future estate with extensive gardens, vineyards, and even his own winery. His ambitions went beyond simple farming; he dreamed of creating something special, which eventually evolved into the famous park that became the pride of Sochi.

In 1883, Khludov's holdings expanded significantly with the purchase of land from the merchant Nikolay Mamontov, and this part of the city became known as the Khludov side. The direct layout of the park began in 1885. The project was entrusted to the talented agronomist R. Garbe, and G. Vobst, the chief gardener of the Moscow Botanical Garden, participated in its implementation, highlighting the high level and ambition of the design. The crowning jewel of the future park's architectural ensemble was an elegant mansion built in 1896 in its very heart, designed by the famous architect Lev Kekushev. To this day, this building remains one of Riviera's hallmarks and a reminder of its rich past.

The grand opening of Riviera Park took place on July 1, 1898, marking a landmark event for all of Sochi. Since then, the park has been transformed, expanded, and modernized many times, responding to the trends of the times while invariably preserving its unique spirit and status as one of the resort's main symbols. It has become more than just a place to relax; it is a true legend, a witness to many historical events, and a favorite spot for generations of Sochi residents and visitors arriving from all over Russia and abroad to enjoy its beauty and atmosphere.

Time Needed

To get a general overview of Riviera Park and enjoy its core atmosphere, an average visitor should set aside at least 2–3 hours. During this time, you can leisurely stroll along the central alleys, admire the fountains and sculptures, and appreciate the beauty of the park's dendrological collection. This is enough for a calm walk and to see the park's key highlights.

However, if your plans include a more detailed exploration of every corner of "Riviera," visiting the rides, participating in events, or simply wanting to spend more time enjoying every moment, it's better to plan for half a day or even a full day. The park features many entertainment options, cafes, and interesting zones that may require extra time. For example, if you are traveling with children and plan to visit the rides or the dolphinarium (if it is part of the park or located nearby), your stay will be significantly longer.

Working Hours

Riviera Park is happy to welcome guests year-round and is open daily and around the clock, allowing you to enjoy its beauty at any time convenient for you. However, please note that the operating hours of individual facilities within the park, such as rides, cafes, exhibition pavilions, and other entertainment zones, may vary. Typically, during the high tourist season, they operate from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, while in the off-season, their schedule may be shorter, for example, closing at 7:00 PM.

Since the schedules for specific rides or events can change, and some activities may require advance booking or ticket purchases, we strongly recommend checking the most up-to-date information before your visit. The best way to do this is by visiting the official Riviera Park website or checking local information boards directly in Sochi. This will help you plan your holiday in the best possible way and avoid any potential inconvenience.
