Overview

Benidorm, situated on Spain's sunny coast, boasts a beautiful Mediterranean climate. This means you can expect mild winters and hot, sunny summers, making it an attractive holiday destination almost all year round. The city enjoys plenty of sunshine, and temperatures rarely drop to extreme lows.

The summer months, especially July and August, are characterized by high temperatures, often reaching 30°C and above, and minimal rainfall – the perfect time for beach holidays and water activities. Winters in Benidorm are mild, with an average temperature of around 10-12°C. Although the number of rainy days increases slightly during the winter and transitional seasons (March, April, September), the total amount of rainfall remains low. Spring and autumn offer very comfortable weather with pleasant temperatures, ideal for excursions and walks.

One of the key features of Benidorm's climate is the low level of precipitation throughout the year. Even in the "wettest" months, rainfall is light, and in summer, rain is a real rarity, guaranteeing plenty of sunny days for your vacation. This makes Benidorm an excellent choice for those seeking warmth and sun.

Precipitation

Benidorm is characterized by a relatively low level of precipitation throughout the year, making it attractive for sun lovers. There is no pronounced rainy season like in some other regions. Instead, rainfall is distributed rather unevenly, with peaks and dips in different months, but overall volumes remain small.

Speaking of the "wettest" periods, September stands out as the month with the highest average rainfall, reaching 4 mm. However, March and September lead in terms of frequency, each averaging about 11 days of precipitation. April is also relatively wet, with 10 rainy days and 3 mm of rainfall. During these months, rain is likely to be short and not very intense.

Conversely, the summer months are the driest. July is the absolute champion of dryness: on average, there is 0 mm of rainfall here, with only about two rainy days. This is the perfect time for those who want to be guaranteed to avoid the rain. February, June, August, and December also feature very low precipitation levels, averaging just 1 mm, while the number of rainy days ranges from 4 to 5. Overall, even in months with a higher number of "wet" days, the total amount of moisture remains insignificant, confirming Benidorm's reputation as a sunny resort.

Packing Tips

When planning a trip to Benidorm, it's important to consider its Mediterranean climate for smart packing. In summer (from June to August), you can expect real heat, with temperatures often above +30°C and minimal rainfall. Therefore, your wardrobe should primarily consist of light, breathable clothing made of natural fabrics, swimwear, a hat (cap or sun hat), sunglasses, and, of course, sunscreen with high SPF. Don't forget comfortable sandals or flip-flops for the beach and light shoes for walking around the city.

In spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), the weather in Benidorm is very comfortable but more changeable. It can be warm and sunny during the day, while evenings are cooler. During these seasons, the number of rainy days increases slightly (especially in March, April, and September), although the rain is usually light and short-lived. We recommend bringing clothes that can be layered: T-shirts, light sweaters or cardigans, jeans or trousers, and a light jacket or windbreaker. A compact umbrella or raincoat might also come in handy. Comfortable closed-toe shoes for long walks will be very useful.

In winter (from December to February), Benidorm is quite mild, with average temperatures staying around +10°C...+12°C; however, nights can be chilly (around +6°C...+7°C), and windy days are possible at times. You will need warmer items: sweaters, fleece tops, trousers, and a mid-season jacket. Although there are no severe frosts here, the right clothes will help you stay comfortable. Regardless of the season, comfortable shoes are your best companion when exploring Benidorm, as the city is great for walking. The principle of layering is an excellent strategy for any trip here.
