Set upon a picturesque hill offering a charming view of the Gulf of Bothnia is the Murberget Local History Museum. It is one of the largest and most significant open-air ethnographic complexes in Sweden. The museum represents a unique collection of ancient architecture and cultural artifacts from Västernorrland County.

Strolling through the museum grounds in the city of Härnösand, guests feel as if they are taking a journey back in time. The atmosphere of past centuries is carefully recreated here, from traditional wooden farms and craft shops to an old school and church. Each building tells its own story about the life, hardships, and joys of the residents of the Swedish north.
In addition to the open-air site, the complex includes a modern museum building that hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions. The displays cover a vast period of time — from Viking Age archaeological finds to contemporary art, making Murberget a key destination for understanding regional identity.
