History & Facts

The history of this sports facility began on September 28, 1967, when it opened under the name "Gavlerinken," replacing the old ice stadium. At the time of its opening, it was one of the most impressive venues in the region, capable of hosting over nine thousand spectators, most of whom were accommodated in standing areas.

A major turning point in the venue's history occurred in 2005, when the Gävle municipality sold the arena to the Brynäs IF hockey club. This decision launched a massive renovation in 2006, costing approximately 160 million Swedish kronor. During the project, the building took on its modern appearance, and the number of seats was increased to meet international comfort standards.

In recent decades, the arena has changed its official name several times due to sponsorship deals, being known as "Läkerol Arena" before returning to its historical name. Since September 2019, it has officially been named Monitor ERP Arena, continuing to serve as the primary sporting heart of the city.

Time Needed

For those planning to attend a hockey match, we recommend setting aside 3 to 4 hours. This is enough time to comfortably reach the venue, find parking, pass through security, and enjoy the pre-match show with snacks at a local cafe.

A hockey match itself usually lasts about 2.5 hours. If your goal is to attend a concert or another cultural event, the duration may vary, but on average, you should count on spending a full evening within the walls of this modern complex.

Working Hours

The arena is open daily, providing access to its services from early morning until late evening. Standard visiting hours:

Monday — Sunday: 07:00 – 23:00.

Please note that actual opening hours may vary depending on the game schedule or special concert programs. It is recommended to check the current event calendar on the club's official website before your visit.
