What to Do

The main draw for visitors here is, without a doubt, hockey. Attending a Brynäs IF home game allows you to dive headfirst into Swedish sports culture, feel the energy of the crowd, and witness the skills of players in one of Europe's strongest leagues. The game's dynamics and the synchronized chanting of fans create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Beyond sports, the complex frequently hosts grand concerts and shows. Thanks to excellent acoustics and modern equipment, both national stars and international artists perform here. You can also stop by the local restaurant, Monitor ERP Arena Restaurang & Konferens, which is a great place to have lunch while waiting for an event or to hold a business meeting in a unique setting.

If you find yourself here during the day, we recommend taking a walk through the Gavlehov sports campus. Its proximity to the modern Gavlevallen football field and the racetrack allows you to see how the country's sports infrastructure is organized, and the surrounding park areas are perfect for a light stroll in the fresh air.

Getting There

Getting to the arena from the city center is straightforward. If you prefer public transport, buses regularly run from the central station (Centralstationen) toward the Sätraåsen district. Look for routes serving the Gavlehovshallen or Gavlevallen stops; the journey takes about 10–15 minutes.

For those traveling by car, it is most convenient to take the E4 highway, following signs for the Gavlehov sports complex. Parking is available on-site for visitors. You can also use taxi services; a trip from the city center takes just 5–7 minutes.

In good weather, many prefer to walk or cycle. The distance from the center is approximately 4–5 kilometers, making the journey a pleasant 40-minute stroll through city neighborhoods straight to the heart of the sporting action.

History & Facts

The history of this site began in 1967 with the construction of the original arena, named Gavlerinken. For decades, it served as the home of the famous Brynäs IF hockey club, witnessing numerous triumphs and dramatic moments in Swedish sports.

A new chapter for the complex began in 2005 when the municipality transferred ownership rights to the club. The subsequent large-scale reconstruction transformed the old stadium into an ultra-modern venue. In 2006, the facility reopened under the new commercial name Läkerol Arena, named after a well-known lozenge brand, which was a prominent example of sponsorship collaboration at the time.

Over the past two decades, the arena has changed names several more times—from a temporary return to the historical Gavlerinken Arena to its current name, Monitor ERP Arena. Despite the changing signs, the complex remains a key element of the city's sports cluster, constantly updated to meet the highest international standards for comfort and safety.

Today, Gavlehovshallen is not just an ice palace but a part of the dynamically developing Gavlehov district, whose history is closely intertwined with the successes of local hockey and the cultural life of the region.

Time Needed

When planning your visit, consider the nature of the event. If you are attending a hockey match or a concert, you should set aside at least 2.5–3 hours. This will allow you to pass through security comfortably, find your seats, and fully enjoy the atmosphere, including intermissions and pre-match shows.

For those who simply want to see the arena's architecture or visit its facilities (such as the restaurant) on a non-game day, 1–1.5 hours will be sufficient. If you decide to explore the entire Gavlehov sports complex, including the neighboring stadium or racetrack, the outing could take up to half a day.

Working Hours

The arena's administrative office typically operates on a standard schedule: Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00. The office is closed on Saturday and Sunday; however, the arena itself follows a specific schedule based on events.

Access for spectators is open on days of hockey matches, concerts, or exhibitions. Exact event start times and ticket office hours always depend on the specific event, so we highly recommend checking the latest information on the official website or the club's schedules before your visit.
